Cascades Casino Penticton
Cascades Casino Penticton sits at 201-553 Vees Drive, tucked into the Okanagan region of British Columbia. The doors opened on April 5, 2017, when Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited brought its Cascades brand to Penticton and filled a fairly obvious gap in the local entertainment scene. The Cascades name was already familiar around BC, so Penticton simply became another stop in that existing network.
All gambling activity here runs under the BC Lottery Corporation, usually shortened to BCLC. It is the provincial crown agency that oversees commercial gaming on behalf of the government. Gateway handles everyday operations under a service provider agreement with BCLC, so there is a split structure: BCLC owns the overall framework and rules, Gateway manages the floor, staff and customer-facing side. Most regulated casinos in BC follow more or less this pattern.
Entry to the gaming floor is restricted to guests 19 and older. Staff check ID at the door and they will turn people away if that requirement is not met.
What the Gaming Floor Actually Looks Like
When the property launched in 2017, it was introduced with around 400 slot machines and 11 live table games. The current breakdown lists five table games, a single dedicated poker table and four electronic table games, so the mix has shifted as the years went by. That type of adjustment is normal as a casino figures out what its regular players actually use.
Slot denominations run from $0.01 per pay-line up to $1.00. That lets people sit down with very different budgets and still find something that fits how they prefer to play. On the tables, visitors will see staples like blackjack, roulette, baccarat and poker, but the precise lineup and which tables are open can move around. Schedules change, games rotate, so checking with the property before a specific visit is usually safer than assuming.
Someone walking onto a table for the first time is usually better off standing behind the rail for a few minutes instead of jumping straight into a seat. Watching a few hands or a couple of spins gives a clearer sense of pace, etiquette and how players interact with the dealer than any written explanation.
Poker has its own quirk on this floor: there is only one poker table. Whether a game is running depends heavily on time and demand. Floor staff can normally say if a table is active, how long it might take to open another one, or when poker tends to pick up.
Hours and Getting There
From Sunday through Thursday, the casino opens at 10:00 a.m. and closes at midnight. On Friday and Saturday, the same 10:00 a.m. opening applies, but the gaming floor runs until 2:00 a.m. These hours refer specifically to the casino games. Restaurants and other spaces inside the building might follow different schedules, so guests planning a late meal or a specific event often check those times separately.
A government-issued photo ID should be in your pocket before you head over. In British Columbia this is not a suggestion, it is a firm requirement.

Beyond the Gaming Floor
Cascades Penticton was never set up as a gaming hall only. MATCH Eatery and Public House, a full-service restaurant and bar, shares the same building and has become part of how the property presents itself. When the weather is cooperating, a rooftop patio opens up, and an outdoor bocce court adds a bit of casual activity away from the machines and felt.
This combination of food, bar service and gaming under a single roof has been part of the Cascades formula from early on. The idea is that guests can eat, watch a game, play a frame of bocce and then drift back to the casino without feeling like they have left the venue. Gateway uses a similar pattern at other Cascades locations in BC, and Penticton fits neatly into that overall layout.
